Mountain Creek To Host New Music Sessions

Vernon, New Jersey, Dec. 23, 2002 — Combining the exhilaration of winter sports with the excitement of some of today’s hottest music, Mountain Creek is launching a new concert series as of January 12th, 2003. Every Sunday afternoon through February 16th, Mountain Creek will play host to some of the music industry’s best and brightest new stars, outside at the base area on a heated stage.

The new music series, sponsored by Mountain Creek Resort and Blender Music magazine, will have different artists every Sunday performing from 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. The show is free with the purchase of a lift ticket, and guests will also have the chance to win raffle prizes and meet the bands.

“We’re excited to have world-class recording artists performing at Mountain Creek this season to show off the great riding we have here in northern New Jersey,” says Mountain Creek Director of Marketing, Bill Benneyan. “We believe that by partnering with top musical entertainers we can extend the reach of our favorite winter sports.”

“We are eager to help feature new artists in innovative venues,” says Malcolm Campbell, publisher of Blender Music magazine. “We’re lending our support to help Mountain Creek get the coolest artists and to expose folks to new music, just like we do with our magazines.”

Confirmed artists to date include

January 12th Virgin Recording Artists “The Exies” RCA Recording Artists “Damone”

January 19th Lava Recording Artists “Simple Plan” RCA Recording Artists “SR-71”

For aspiring young skiers and snowboarders, Mountain Creek is known as the place to be riding in the New York and New Jersey areas. The resort is also well known for its terrain parks and this year, it has expanded with the region’s only SuperPipe. “Our commitment to building new play elements like the EZ-Slide rails for new and younger riders is second to none,” says Benneyan.

“We’re constructing ten additional rails, including a new 50 ft. S rail, which brings our total rail count to nearly three dozen throughout the park,” says Shawn Orecchio, Terrain Park Designer. “In addition to our rails, we are placing greater emphasis on building more snow features, and visitors can expect to see a lot more hips and jumps this season.”
