Mammoth Update: Febraury

With good comes the bad, or is it, the bad brings some good … either way, the lack of snow has also brought Mammoth Lakes an unprecedented amount of sunshine and perfect clear, cold winter days. Snowmaking crews powered through the coldest temperatures this decade to crank out a colossal amount of snow for parks, pipes and groomed runs. Park crews manipulated all this man-made goodness to create the most playful and fun park Mammoth has seen in years.

Main park has several big jumps that can send you into whatever spin trickery you could wish for, as well as several new jib features salvaged from our boneyard. Mason Aguirre and Danny Davis were spotted in Main and South Park filming for their new teaser. Sunshine and cold temperatures has kept the pipes in prime shape for boosting and youngblood Mammoth rider Greg Bretz has been throwing down getting ready for the Grand Prix contests.

Last weekend, a big storm bulldozed through the Sierras dropping 32 inches of wet base at main lodge and an estimated five-six feet of snow on the upper mountain making all powder hounds forget about our slow start. Woke up this morning to flurries, and with more snow on the forecast it looks promising for a great second half of the season.
