Mammoth Superpipe Opens

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA – Mammoth Mountain’s Superpipe opened today – the firstSuperpipe to open in North America for the fourth year running. MammothMountain’s Unbound Terrain Parks are off to an epic start to the 2003/04season with numerous jumps and rails available for all ability levels inaddition to its immaculately groomed Superpipe.

The Unbound crew has been working tirelessly to have the Superpipe and otherTerrain Park features ready for anxious skiers and riders, not to mentionboth the US and Canadian Snowboard Teams who are in town to train. Prosincluding Danny Kass, Todd Richards, Andy Finch, Ross Powers, GretchenBleiler, Tricia Byrnes, Travis Rice and Tommy Czeschin have been tearing upthe pipe since it opened this morning.

“We are so excited to have the first pipe in North America once again,” saidTerrain Park Manager, Oren Tanzer. “Kudos to our master pipe buildersDanny Rossier and Nate Polzer! They have done a great job getting this pipeready to go for the 2003/04 season.”

This year’s Superpipe is 475 feet long with a 15.5 degree pitch, 15 footwalls and 18 feet of transition.

The legendary Unbound Terrain Park continues to set the standard for terrainpark excellence in the 2003/04 season. As the season progresses, theUnbound will feature expanded terrain, new fun box and rail designs, acolossal Wall Ride and the return of all three pipes, including theSuper-Duper Pipe, reshaped and reformatted to increase rider performance.
