KEYSTONE, Colo. ¿ Oct. 17, 2001 ¿ Keystone Resort is set to open Friday, Oct. 26 for the 2001-2002 ski and snowboard season. The resort started making snow Oct. 10 and received some help from Mother Nature last week with a few inches of natural snow.

“We’re in great shape right now,” said Greg Pack, mountain manager for Keystone. “With some improvements to our snowmaking system, we’re on track to open on time. The countdown is on for our start of the season. We’re set to open in about 10 days and so far it’s shaping up to be a great early season.”

According to Pack, the new snow gets everyone excited for the season. The first skiing and snowboarding will be in the Mountain House base area at Keystone on Haywood trail, with other areas and chairs opening through the season.

To help get skiers and snowboarders excited for the season, the resort is offering free skiing and snowboarding all season long. Free ski/ride packages start at $53 per person per night and include free lift tickets, lodging in a two-bedroom condominium and free activities, such as snowshoeing, Kids’ Night Out, wine tastings, yoga classes and more. The quoted rate is available Nov. 21 ¿ Dec. 13.
