FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. -- September 19th, 2007 -- Oakley is proud to announce that 2007 Champion of The Oakley Arctic Challenge, Kevin Pearce has joined our Global Eyewear Snowboard Team.
“I am stoked to be apart of a team with so many amazing riders, said Kevin Pearce. “It has always been a goal of mine to be on Oakley and I could not be any happier to start the winter off this way.
Kevin grew up in Ascutney, Vermont riding with his friends at Stowe Resort and the other surrounding mountains in northern Vermont. Pearce also known to many as KP began to make a statement in the snowboard industry during the 2005 season as he scored podiums in pipe and slope contests. Now 19 years young, Pearce looks to be part of the future movement in snowboarding.
This past season KP had his best contest year to date finishing fourth overall in the TTR points standings with huge wins in slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open and Nippon Open, as well as the championship crown at The Oakley Arctic Challenge. Pearce’s performance at The Oakley Arctic Challenge earned him the opportunity to shred with event organizer and fellow Oakley Global Eyewear Team Rider, Terje Haakonsen all around Norway.
“We had an awesome opportunity to hang out with Kevin after his win at The Oakley Arctic Challenge last season, said Oakley Sport Marketing Snowboard Manager, Chris Hotell. “His love for snowboarding and dedication to progressing blew us away, and it was an added bonus that he believes in our product and our athlete support. We realized immediately that he would be a perfect fit for our eyewear team, and we are proud to announce that he’s officially a part of the family.
Pearce is one of the hottest snowboarders going into the 07/08 season with an incredibly bright future. Oakley looks forward to growing our relationship with Kevin and protecting his vision as he eyes a place on the US Snowboard Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, Canada.
