Portland, Ore. (Sept. 104, 2007) — The Alliance of Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Snowboarding announced today that Java Fernandez is the new Global Team Manager for both brands.
“Java’s a great add for our group – he’s funny, creative and talented. He was a chef who studied pre-med and has four or five first names. He’ll fit right in,” said Brad Steward, Director of Marketing for Salomon Snowboards and Bonfire Snowboarding.
Fernandez is familiar to many of the current team riders and is looking forward to working with them all. This past season he filmed for MDP’s “People, Transworld Snowboarding and Chad Otterstrom’s “Keep Talking. His goals for his new position are simple:
“I want to do my best to give everybody on the team as many opportunities as possible and contribute to snowboarding as much as I can, said Fernandez.
Fernandez joins Bonfire and Salomon after working for the sports marketing agency, Birdsong 3, where he created and developed the Hometown Heroes Competition at Copper Mountain.
While at Birdsong 3, Fernandez primarily focused on skateboarding. He is stoked to be back in snowboarding, full-time—p. pParticularly, with Salomon and Bonfire.
His roots run deep with both brands, “I’ve been a part of the Salomon family for awhile now. When I was younger I used to help out with demos for gear. After that, I was an associate sales rep for Scott LoeppertBonfire and Salomon in Colorado.
Fernandez will join the Salomon and Bonfire Marketing team in Portland, Oregon.
Bonfire Snowboarding was created in 1989, in Huntington Beach, California, and has made Portland, Oregon its home since 1992.
Salomon Snowboards recently celebrated 10 years of creating leading edge snowboards, boots, and bindings for riders all over the world.
