(Jackson Hole, Wy., May 23, 2000) Jackson Hole Mountain Resort willallow skiers and snowboarders to access Cody Bowl and the surroundingbackcountry via the aerial tram this summer. Cody Bowl is recommendedfor experts only and is located south of the Resort in Bridger-TetonNational Forest. The aerial tram will open for the summer season onFriday, May 26, 2000.

“After incorporating the new boundary policy into this past winterseason, we were given an opportunity to reconsider our summer tramoperations boundary management policies,” said Tom Spangler, GeneralManager. “The Resort feels that guests would like to hike into CodyBowl and have fun when the weather is great.”

Skiers and snowboarders will enter the backcountry through the RockSprings High Access gate, and all signage, maps, and advisories for thebackcountry will be located on the top tram dock. A Summer BackcountryAdvisory will caution users that they are entering a high-risk area thathas many natural hazards. Teton County Search and Rescue will continueto be responsible for rescues in the backcountry.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is closed to skiers and snowboarders forthe summer and backcountry users are not allowed to re-enter the Resorton their equipment. It is recommended that skiers and snowboarders hikeback to the tram and ride it down, or hike down the mountain road 7.2miles to the base.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will offer an $8 discounted tram day passto locals May 26 through September 4, 2000. Locals are also invited toride the aerial tram for free starting September 5, 2000. The 2000Summer Season aerial tram schedule is as follows:

The aerial tram operates approximately every half-hour during the summerdepending on weather conditions and the number of guests. There are noreservations.
