Grouse Recruits Pro Team

Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver, B.C. – Grouse Mountain is now well under way with the 2004 season, but felt that anytime was the perfect time to promote the recruitment of four top athletes to spearhead the resort’s first ever Pro Team. Keir Dillon, Travis Williams, Donny Ellis, and Aaron Shapiro will be at the helm of this impressive partnership. So far the team is off to an amazing start with Keir Dillon finishing 3rd in the XGames Superpipe while Travis Williams had an impressive 5th place finish in the Slopestyle.

The four riders all hail from the Greater Vancouver and/or Whistler areas and will be shredding Grouse Mountain as much as they can from here on in. Throughout the season the team will be representing Grouse Mountain not only on site, but in their world travels and tours as professional riders, further establishing Grouse Mountain as a top destination for snowboarding on the domestic and international scenes.

“It made perfect sense to recruit these riders. It didn’t take much convincing”, said Silcock. “These guys are all super dedicated to the direction that Grouse Mountain has undertaken with its winter programs. We are all very excited to work with them for years to come.”

In addition to developing an enviable Pro Rider Team, Grouse Mountain’s snowboard scene has been enhanced with a strong partnership with local production company Alterna-Action Films. Grouse Mountain has worked with the avant-garde snowboarding producers before and will be a title sponsor for their new film, “Fast Food”. Alterna-Action’s riders will be visiting Grouse Mountain’s Terrain Park and other zones around the mountain to capture the best local footage throughout the season and late into the spring.

Also this winter, Grouse Mountain has invested in some new boxes for the Advanced Terrain Park, Rookie Park and Jib Park. These new features will complement the current rail fleet and increase the dynamics of all three park zones. Among the new features are D-Railed Industries’ 40′ Cobra Commander S-Box, 30′ Cheddar Bob wave box, and 2 Decepticon C-Boxes.

With an amazing snowfall and snowmaking effort already, Grouse Mountain is well underway to an amazing winter and a long spring season.
