Epic Snow Opens Crested Butte’s North Face

Mt Crested Butte, CO¿Powder days returned to Crested Butte last week thanks to a new storm that brought in heavy clouds and snowshowers early Thursday morning. More than fifteen inches had fallen over 48 hours. Friday, the Crested Butte Ski Patrol was able to open the North Face Lift for the first time this season. Skier and snowboarders made first tracks in the bowls of the North Face, Hawks Nest, and Glades, notorious expert runs in the “Extreme Limits.”

Crested Butte’s “Extreme Limits,” is 824 acres of ungroomed, double black diamond, expert terrain. It is the showcase area for “extreme” skiers and snowboarders, unparalleled in the lower 48.

Based on conditions, the patrol plans to open the North Face Lift permanently this week.
