Huntington Beach, CA—DC Shoes has teamed up with iconic Los Angeles streetwear brand, FUCKTHEPOPULATION on a collaboration that takes FTP's uncommon aesthetic and gives it a high-altitude application in a new collection of winter outerwear and softgood accessories, the DC x FTP Snow Collection.
The capsule collection, which includes a technical jacket and bib pants in two colorways, insulating coat, sweatshirt, and mittens, fuses FTP's unapologetic and cleverly disruptive vision with DC Snowboarding's commitment to developing technical-driven outerwear designed to brave even the most treacherous winter weather without compromising, fit, function, or style. In addition, the collection is complete with a DC x FTP special edition of award-winning DC snowboard, The 156.The partnership builds on the interwoven heritages of streetwear and skateboarding, both of which pull inspiration from a similarly unorthodox and DIY credo. FTP and DC previously collaborated on a limited release of the classic DC Syntax and taking that relationship to DC Snowboarding was a natural evolution.
"Pushing the status quo is ingrained in DC's DNA," says Ben Wang, Global Director of Influencer Marketing. "Whether with materials and technology, or through joining forces with like-minded brands, we don't know how to be complacent. When the opportunity arose to take our experience in producing advanced outwear and combine that with FTP's visually defiant sensibility, we were able to use the resources we have built over the past three decades at DC and provide a brand we respect with a platform to access technical materials to create something completely new."
The result is a collection that represents the ideologies of both brands and rejects the expected in favor of the radical. Featuring FTP's signature bold color blocking, all-over prints, and reflective hits, the DC x FTP Snow Collection is the latest release between the two brands and the first within the snow category.
The DC x FTP Snow Collection will be available February 9, 2019. The outerwear and accessories will be available online only at fuckthepopulation.com. The 156 snowboard will be available at fuckthepopulation.com and dcshoes.com/ftpsnowkit. Until then, stay tuned to DC's social platforms, including @dcshoes on Instagram for updates and leaks about the release.
