(Hood River, Oregon) March 30, 2005 -- DAKINE is proud to announce the addition of 19 year-old Finnish rider Antti Autti to its International Snowboard Team. Autti has been riding on the DAKINE amateur team for over two years but recently graduated to the DAKINE International team after dominating the Superpipe at the 2005 Winter X-Games taking home the gold medal.
In addition to impressing everyone with his ’05 X-Games win, Autti has been blowing minds all season long. His list of notable achievements is long and distinguished: 2004 WSF World Halfpipe Champion, 2004 FIS Finnish National Halfpipe Champion and 2004 FIS World Cup Halfpipe Runner-up. He won four out of five FIS World Cup Halfpipe Competitions he entered in the 2004 FIS season and placed second in the only contest he didn’t win. In addition to all of his impressive wins, Autti’s most recent accomplishments include a second-place win in the slopestyle competition at the 2005 Gravity Games as well as a third-place finish at the 2005 U.S. Open at Stratton.
“I’ve been riding for DAKINE for nearly three years and it has been an amazing experience. From here on, I’m confident that our relationship will only get stronger. I feel privilaged to become a part of the DK International Snowboard Team. Now, I’m going to throw my Mission backpack on and wear my warm Maverick gloves and go to do some shredding with a big smile.”
Autti is on fire and it doesn’t stop here. You can bet that he’ll be making a run for the gold medal in Torino, Italy next winter.
In addition to DAKINE, Autti’s sponsors include Flow Snowboards, Von Zipper and Billabong.
