OLIVER, BC -- The 2005-2006 ski and snowboard season is quickly approaching, and new developments have begun at Mt. Baldy with increased glades, plus the introduction of a new product for skiers and snowboarders -- the Mount Baldy Ultimate Pass.
“The new ultimate pass is something that hasn’t been done at any other ski area that we know of,” noted Tim Foster, General Manager. “We developed it for parents who’s kids grow out of their equipment each year, for the former skier who wants to get back into the sport, and for the skier who wants to try snowboarding or vice versa. It appeals to everyone.”
Ultimate passholders will enjoy unlimited use of all lifts, they will receive full season use of regular ski and snowboard equipment and participation in regularly scheduled group ski and snowboard lessons. Plus, Ultimate Passholders will receive a 20% discount on specialty equipment, special lesson programs, food in the restaurant and lounge, accommodations in Powder Hound Estates and on Mount Baldy retail items.
In preparation for the new season, a trail crew is back at work glading between runs; opening up last years glades and creating even more tree skiing. Following the construction of a road winding up the lower part of Baldy Trail, a logging crew moved in and began logging in between the existing Baldy runs to complement the work by the trail crew.
“In addition to the glading, we brought in an excavator to fix drainage and to remove rocks and debris from the ski hill,” commented Russell Karp, Outdoor Operations Manager. “We’ve also regraded the lower sections of Cascade and Baldy Trail, which will increase our beginner lesson terrain, and allow for smoother transitions to the bottom of the chair.”
A new Rental and Snow School builing will replace the old ski patrol hut between the Eagle Chair and the McKinney T-bar. Visitors will be able to rent equipment, sign up for lessons, buy a lift ticket and purchase retail items in one convenient location. Subsequently, the Ski Patrol will move into the old rental shop in the basement of the day lodge.
