Bear Mountain, The Hard Opening

Bear Mountain had their soft opening if you will, last Saturday December third, then promptly closed up and ceased operation for three long days. With winter approaching at the speed of molasses in southern California, and everyone overly excited to ride this seemed like an odd decision. But weather was permitting and all efforts were put toward snowmaking, as guns were cranked up and and put to work. Not to be outdone by machines, Bear’s park staff was/is grinding ’round the clock, putting the mountain together.

Wednesday the seventh—the hard opening was legit, or as Mad Dawg Carlino put it—”This is phat. The chair 9 park run was open top to bottom, and littered with jibstacles of all shapes and sizes—last count was twenty-four rails and boxes. We were also blessed with a smooth jump up top, a pair of hips, and a pair of fun mini bike jumps at bottom. The weather was sunny and perfect and they continued making snow throughout the day, as they will for the rest of the week as long as it stays cold.

There is still a lot of work going on getting The Park in shape for the Block Party Rail Jam this weekend. Be there or be square—all squares check back here for results ‘n junk.

Check the Pics & Video, unless you’re over it.
