BBCF Holds X Games Fundraiser

LOS ANGELES, (January 16, 2004)--Boarding For Breast Cancer Foundation (B4BC), the leading nonprofit youth-focused breast cancer awareness group, will hold a charity auction of unique breast mold pop art during the action sports industry’s leading event, ESPN’s “Winter X Games VIII. The auction, co-hosted by Paul Frank Industries, Fader Magazine, EA Sports, Nixon Watches and Op, will take place on the evening of Saturday, January 24 at NXT, 424 Copper Avenue Mall in Aspen, Colo. from 9:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. Drinks will be served and there will be a $10 donation at the door which will benefit B4BC.

This year’s auction will include a breast mold donated by Sharon Osbourne and decorated by professional snowboarder and B4BC Co-Founder Tina Basich during a recent taping of “The Sharon Osbourne Show. Additional pieces include works sculpted from athletes Shannon Dunn, Torah Bright, Kim Stravers, Fabienne Reuteler, Hana Beaman, Annie Boulanger, Rochelle Ballard, Keala Kennelly, Jen O’Brien, Jewels Bauer, Tara Dakides, Rachel Nelson, Megan Pischke, Barrett Christy, Tina Basich, Erin Comstock and Roberta Rodger. Artists who decorated the pieces include: Tony Alva, Jennifer Dixon, Heather Wojner, Allison Guidry, Tim Kartinski, Dave Schiff, Jason Brown, Alex Bacon, Brandy Flower, Jill Stephens, Steven Schafer, Annette Vihelmann, Nancy B. Frank, Benita Wahl and the artist WOO.

In addition to the two-hour charity fundraiser on Saturday evening, Boarding For Breast Cancer will be sharing a booth with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) on-site at this year’s “Winter X Games VIII during the week-long competition.

There will also be a weekend health and fitness seminar for women in conjunction with ESPN’s Team ESPN, the corporate outreach program of ESPN, Inc., WSF and Girls, Inc., where B4BC’s contribution will be to provide information about breast cancer awareness, the importance of early detection and the value of a healthy lifestyle.
