Another Big Storm Hits Silverton

Silverton, CO., January 4, 2005 — The latest storm to hit Silverton Mountain dropped 16 inches of new snow in the parking lot of the ski area. The new snow piled up on top of 24 inches from a storm earlier this week for a week long total of 40 inches of new snow. Silverton Mountain has received more than 200 of snow since Labor Day and 7 storms have dumped 18 inches or more at one time. The current storm brings the mid mountain base at 11,945 to 80 just in time for this weekends reopening on Thursday. (Silverton Mountain is operational Thursdays – Sundays throughout the season.)

Silverton Mountain is the newest ski/snowboard area in Colorado catering to advanced and expert snow riders and has been ranked #1 in Steeps and #1 in Powder Snow in the USA by Skiing Magazine (2003). Silverton Mountain will be offering guided only lift served skiing again for 2004/2005.
