With snow on the forecast for Mammoth Lakes, many people are starting to realize that winter is fast approaching. This means more trips to the local shop and frequent sign-ins on favorite e-tailers to purchase the latest and most advanced hardgoods and softgoods on the market.  It also means friends and shred heads planning their traditional winter trip to their favorite mountain. The hardest part about these trips is organizing it all – where to stay, what to eat, how many days to ride, and what to do while in town. Luckily for these folks, The Station is offering action sports progression camps for the 2012 winter season.

Starting the last week of December, The Station will be hosting snowboarding and skiing progression camps suitable for riders of any ability level throughout the season. These camps are designed not only for friends and individuals to have a fun time in Mammoth, but provide them with an opportunity to hone and develop their skills with coaching, guest pros and media workshops. Camp Director Rachel Bowman says, “The Station action sports camps create an environment for young people to excel in the sport of snowboarding and freestyle skiing on some of the best snow in the nation.”

  • Session 1: Dec. 27 – Dec. 31
  • Session 2 (SFC Signature Camp): Mar. 15 – Mar. 18
  • Session 3: Apr. 12 – Apr. 15

Although The Station is located in Mammoth, all on-mountain training will take place at June Mountain where there are fewer crowds, pristine parks, and more affordable rates. Says Bowman, “June Mountain was rated Best Park in California in the TransWorld Snowboarding 2011 Resort Poll, and it will be even more incredible in 2012!” Additionally, campers will have the opportunity to train off the mountain at Snowcreek Athletic Club, which offers plenty of amenities such as weight rooms, swimming pool, basketball and racquetball courts and more.

Because The Station is only three years old, it has a fresh perspective on action sports camps as well as focuses on advanced level coaching and provides intermediate riders the opportunity to gain confidence to progress to the next level. “The Station is in the business of creating quality snowboarders, skiers and young people that believe they can truly accomplish great things in the action sports industry and in their lives,” says Bowman.
