2011 Burton Am Series Kicks Off This Weekend

Burlington, Vt. (January 6, 2011) – The 2011 Burton AM Series <http://www.burton.com/amseries> , a top-quality competition series for amateur snowboarders, kicks off January 8th at Mammoth Mountain. Featuring a total of six stops, the Burton AM Series <http://www.burton.com/amseries> gives local riders of all ages the opportunity to compete in slopestyle and superpipe contests for a piece of the $7,000 prize purse offered at each stop. Best of all, the first place slopestyle and halfpipe winners at every AM Series stop will each earn a spot to compete at one of snowboarding’s top events, the Burton US Open <http://www.opensnowboarding.com/Home.aspx?openid=USO> at Stratton Mountain Vermont in March.

Up-and-coming riders stand to win some serious cash, with equal prize money awarded to men and women competitors. First place earns $750; second place gets $500; and third earns $250. The most creative riders can also cash in by claiming Best Trick for $250. In addition, each competitor will receive a complimentary subscription to Snowboarder Magazine.  Since the AM Series is a 3 Star event on the TTR World Snowboard tour, riders can also earn valuable points that count towards their season ranking.

Most AM Series stops also coincide with the Burton 2011 Super Demo Tour <http://www.burton.com/demotour> , where riders can Test Ride the newest Burton hardgoods on snow for free. Burton Super Demo Tour stops also feature onsite sponsor activities, including après gatherings and giveaways.
