An ultra-packable midlayer functional as an outer piece in most conditions, the Ventrix Hoodie is an ideal, and more breathable, alternative to a micro-puff style jacket. Testers found it especially ideal as a piece to put on atop an ascent or at the end of the day, back at the car while enjoying a beer. Its slim fit also wears well beneath a shell on cold days. The lightweight piece features maximum breathability, designed with aerobic, aka sweaty, activity in mind. It doesn't replace a waterproof jacket when conditions get wet, but for many winter activities, it may be all you need.

Tested + Approved 2019 presented by

Since its inception four years ago, Tested + Approved has swiftly and proudly established itself as snowboarding's most comprehensive and bullshit-free product test. With an endless sea of gear to choose from—bindings and boots, helmets and goggles, gloves, layers, and everything in between—it's not getting any easier to know where to spend your money when everything seems to be touted as the next great innovation in performance and technology. We set out to navigate this deep sea because, like everyone, we get bummed when something fails on its word.

We start the Tested + Approved process by reaching out to brands with reputable product offerings, asking them to submit qualifying gear across an array of categories. We then distribute this gear to insightful, diehard shredders across the country with distinguished product knowledge and an astute ability to critique it. Committed to eliminating inferior items, blown out soles, busted zippers, fogged up lenses, and gimmicky tech is sifted out. What remains is a collection of the industry’s most proven products; all of it Tested + Approved.
