When it comes to riding, keeping your hands warm and dry can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. That is where Dakine comes in. The kind people over at Dakine don’t want you to have a bad day snowboarding, and neither do we. So here is a quick spotlight on a few of our favorite products that they have on the shelves this winter! And if you don’t believe us, just check out their stacked team. If it is good enough for the most recent Rider of the Year recipient Louif Paradis, as well as Ozzy Henning, Leanne Pelosi, Mark Wilson, and Victor Daviet, then we are easily willing to put our credibility where your credit card is and say these are worth the buy.
First up, the Impreza is lightweight and functional with minimal bulk (pictured above), great for warm weather days riding the park. Updated with neoprene cuffs, for a better fit around the wrist, as well as a two-piece palm that blends synthetic suede with a silicone grip for improved dexterity and grip. The Impreza mitt series features custom graphics on the back and associated PU patterning detail on the palm, while the glove comes in a solid black colorway with gray palm detail.
Another favorite of ours from the 2018 Dakine line is the Patriot Glove featuring 440g knit face fleece, as well as a classic look for work and play. A synthetic suede palm patch stretches into the thumb and forefinger to provide better grip and added durability, as well as a little added protection from freshly tuned edges. The Patriot is a must-have for the coming and goings of the mountain, and days when there's so much snow on the car you have to shovel it off.
The Westy Mitt pays homage to the 90's!. The nylon and poly shell is durable, with a DWR treatment. The one hand cinch cuff closure gives you a snug seal, and is easy to get on/off. A removable fleece liner adds softness and adjustability for warmer or colder days.
“I chose the Fillmore because it’s my everyday to-go mitt. It’s just the perfect size to be active all day long in the cold. I went for the Mission Pack for the same reasons – it’s simple but yet has all the features you need for a long day out there. The inspiration for the design and colors was a mix between lumberjack gloves, scout and park ranger equipment from the old days.” – Louif Paradis
Finally, The Baron Mitt is designed for highest marks in performance. It’s chock full of tech, like a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® + Gore Grip, which bonds layers together and prevents slippage when you grip. The water repellent shell is constructed of leather and 4 way stretch panels for durability with flexibility, and a built-in stretch to fit cuff closure makes for easy on and off and a snug fit. It’s all the comfort and protection of an overbuilt mitt, but with better dexterity, so you won’t need to pull them off every time you need to adjust your gear. Mark Wilson seems to think it performs well on the sides of buildings, but we will let you test them out your own way!
