Darrell Mathes has always had an uncommon eye for aesthetics, on a snowboard and off. He chooses unique spots and does tricks right. In the mid 2000s, he was among the first to shy away from the ill-fitting and obnoxiously bright and patterned outerwear popular at the time, in favor of muted and tailored pieces. Visually, the brand him and Joe Sexton are behind, PUBLIC, is more in line with something you might find printed on maple, hanging on the wall of a boutique skate shop, than what you'd expect sublimated below p-tex. And after spending his past two years filming for LANDLINE., Darrell is sitting on a part that looks damn good. This is the stuff that helped make it happen. — Taylor Boyd
