Legend Award: Noah Salasnek
The terms "legend" and "skate style" are thrown around loosely in snowboarding, but if there is a rider who embodies both, it is the late Noah Salasnek. Recipient of the Riders' Poll 20 Legend Award, Salasnek has directly or indirectly influenced likely every rider receiving Riders' Poll acknowledgment. To inject a freestyle element into a big mountain freeride setting may be the most difficult task one can accomplish on a snowboard. It is, perhaps, inspired by skateboarding but not an imitation of it; it is inherent to snowboarding. Salasnek's skate background combined with a mastery of the alpine to spawn a new genre of riding. They say legends never die, and Noah's impact will forever be seen in the most poked out grabs and mid-line airs in fluid big mountain lines.
About Riders’ Poll: For 20 years, TransWorld SNOWboarding has polled the professional snowboarding community to find their picks for the best riders of the year. Each season, these awards are decided by the opinions of over 100 pros. While TransWorld SNOWboarding hosts the awards, the winners are truly a reflection of peer acknowledgement—the highest honor any rider can receive.
