Men's Readers' Choice Award: Halldór Helgason
Few riders possess the international acclaim of Halldór Helgason. He is a professional snowboarder in the truest sense of the term but maintains the looseness that makes snowboarding what it is—that separates it from. His antics and flare have developed a fan following rare in modern snowboarding, so it's no surprise that Riders' Poll 20 makes Halldór a back-to-back Readers' Choice winner and three-time recipient of the award. With a style all his own, Halldór puts down never-been-done tricks every season, and this one past was no exception. Halldór's Video Part of the Year-nominated ender segment from Movie of the Year-nominated The Future of Yesterday is full of "what the f#&%" moments where the Icelandic rider seemingly defies physics. As long as this Readers' Choice recipient keeps doing his thing, the world will keep watching with jaws on the floor.
About Riders’ Poll: For 20 years, TransWorld SNOWboarding has polled the professional snowboarding community to find their picks for the best riders of the year. Each season, these awards are decided by the opinions of over 100 pros. While TransWorld SNOWboarding hosts the awards, the winners are truly a reflection of peer acknowledgement—the highest honor any rider can receive.
