2015 Online Video Series
Of The Year
[The Yawgoons’s speech starts at 3:55 in the video above.]
You wouldn’t think that the 314-vertical-feet that make up Rhode Island’s only ski resort, Yawgoo Valley, would be the breeding ground for some most entertaining and ingenious edits in snowboarding. But that’s exactly the case for the Yawgoons series. Filmed for the last four years by Brendan “Dr. B” Gouin, the most renowned dentist in snowboarding, and mostly featuring Dylan Gamache, Marcus Rand, and Brian Skorupski, the 2015 series amassed over 500,000 views.
By the way, Yawgoo Valley doesn’t have a park crew. The features you see in the edits are all found- and homemade-materials, set up and torn down by the Yawgoons each time they ride the resort. That’s one of the beauties of a true mom and pop operation.
The Yawgoons series isn’t all resort riding either. The crew ventures into Rhode Island’s streets, over to Killington, Vermont, and Mt. Hood, Oregon in this season’s episodes, keeping things fresh.
Overall, the Yawgoons are a testament to the fact that you don’t need a big budget or even big mountains to make some of the best video content. It just takes a creative eye, some talented riders, and a bit of good taste.
