One of the most coveted awards in snowboarding is undoubtedly Women’s Video Part of the Year as it sets the benchmark for women’s riding. This year, the nominees feature some of the heaviest women’s segments of all time. Each part has style that is unique to each rider and includes a broad spectrum of progressive riding and tricks. From Jess Kimura’s well-rounded part, to Kimmy Fasanis’ massive AK lines, and Robin Van Gyn’s big bag of tricks, we’re proud to present the nominees for Women’s Video Part of the Year.
Jess Kimura: Full Part
This season Jess wasn’t even sure if she was going to put out a part. She sustained an injury and was working her way back into good health, and didn’t know if she had filmed enough tricks to put together a part she deemed worthy. After sifting through her footage while laid-up and recovering, she began editing this part, and the finished product is one of the most well-rounded female parts we’ve seen this year. It’s got a cache of urban bangers and is balanced with equally impressive backcountry segments. While this part was close to never seeing the light of day, big-ups to Jess for putting it out there and snapping up a VPOTY nomination.
Kimmy Fasani: Full Part Absinthe /fterForever
Kimmy Fasani is no stranger to the film scene as she has reputable parts in Burton Presents, our TransWorld Origins movie, and a slew of others. Despite this, Kimmy had never filmed with Absinthe. She got in touch with Justin Hostynek, legendary Absinthe filmer/producer, and the two teamed up to create this insane part. It features Kimmy slaying massive lines in AK and beyond and also includes Kimmy’s signature double backflip— all of which helped earn this nomination for Women’s Video Part of the Year.
Robin Van Gyn: Full Part – Runway Films Full Moon
Robin Van Gyn has been gaining momentum within snowboarding for the past several years, and has six other video parts with Runway Films, Standard, and more. Though her previous segments included progressive riding, none really compared to this part, which features her crushing the backcountry in Alaska, BC, and beyond. Robin confidently stomps massive lines and tricks in this part, which helped catapult it into being contender for VPOTY.
