this shit is wack… "oh i dont like this company so i wont ride their boards!"… a lot of the boards are already identical no matter what company you choose.
well you can have alot of bias because if two years ago you bought a burton board and it wasnt fun and you broke it after a month you obviously wouldnt be stoked to test out a burton board. not all boards are identical…….no way. there are so many different side cuts and different variations of reverse camber and fiberglass construction and core construction almost every board is different even if its the same brand.
It's much easier for a company to come up with a bunch of retail boards in different sizes than to make a few special blank boards just for testing. The increased availability in size range, among other things, makes the whole process much more efficient.
i still am not really into these new good wood tests. i find it a little strange that once they switched the boards back from being blank to being with graphics, the results were completely different than before.
Meh, predisposed feelings towards a certain company will always come out in the end. Knowing that some customers do actually use this testing to affect their decision making when buying a board…I think all of these guys know the impact of dubbing a board "Good Wood". A simple solution would be to vinyl the topsheet in black, may take a little time but then you wouldn't have this whole questioning if the test is biased or not.
Most boards ride pretty well new. I'd like to see a board test where everyone rides different boards that have been used throughout the season. That's what's important to me–is it still worth riding after a season of normal wear and tear.
