Whack-Ass style, bit embarassing how awful that looked back then. Glad snowboarding has got style these days, personally i woulda hit that one-footed and sent it bro!
top 5 moments in snowboarding…….it still kicks ass to watch. Nothing Shaun White does or did will push snowboarding as much as this moment. Bring back Blunt Mag it was the best! All hail Ingemar!
I am sure 90% of the groms will be watching this for the first time……
i'm 26 and i remember this. one of the opening shots in Stomping Grounds. back when mack dawg was awesome, snowboarding was raw, and we were hated. ah… the 90's
Haha. Yeah I totally blew it. Almost as much as the MDP filmer who ran out of film before he hit the qp.
This shot opened up the biggest video release of 2006 (Stomping Grounds) and got me into the snowboard filming industry and I´m still here, 13 years later.
Sure it would have been a better shot if the lip was there, but nobody in the world had gone higher than maybe 15 feet before. So it wasn´t completely easy to know the framing.
But getting the inrun made up for losing the lip imo.
I lose the lip. But it has paid my bills and taken be around the world a dozen times since then.
And to those hating on his style, you obviously don´t know what you´re talking about. Go watch Ingemar´s part in Substance and Melt Down Project before you open your mouth again.
hahahahahha!!! dude Pierre that was great! i love it how kids talk so much smack on this site its just nice to have the ACTUAL person they are dissin come back and be like "yo this is how it happened" haha thats great!
Here is list for you– just the ones I used to own when I was a grom– Stomping Grounds- Steak and Lobster- TB7 North of Heaven- Whiskey 1&2- TB 5- go watch these - learn where we came from.!
Kids today don't seem to understand QP like this and HP were dig by hand… Not to mention how crappy board, boots and bindings were crappy at that time… I totally remember how blown away we were when we saw and the embarrassing is i remember thinking that people would never jump bigger and higher after seing this video. But i think the real turning point the "Melt Down Project" vid. I would to see some footage of "childgame", devun walsh first movie!
The day snowboarding changed forever…
I can't explain the feeling when this magazine came out and this shot was on the cover…probably winter of 96/97. It changed my life.
Throw in the holy grail - The Garden, Melt Down Project, Simple Pleasures, Technical Difficulties, Subjekt Haakonsen, Haakon Faktor. Classics for eternity and a time lost forever.
