this just seems like a time when snowboarding was so much more influenced by surfing instead of skating like it is now. I think it was better back then…
Dude i totally agree, they didnt jib a lot or do a lot of techy spins but everything had style on it. Im not saying ppl today dont have style but like everything was so tweeked like there grabs, so much more was put into em, and like riding powder was an art. you dont see to many ppl flowing in powder like that anymore they all want to hit huge drops which is cool dont get me wrong but the style then was sick and ppl boarded because they loved it not because they wanted to win every comp out there.
whats with the narrow stances, i thought we wide stances were cool, now all of a sudden terje is riding a narrow stance in this movie. somebody fill me in, i’m confused.
ya, whats with that? i was reading a comment board on another video abot how narrow stances are making a comeback but i never thought terje would be riding such a narrow stance on what appears to be a real old school board. i thought he had a sponsor. please tell me he isnt so low on stock that he has to ride his old stuff again. and whats with the steeze, i didnt know anybody rode like that anymore.
I’m not hatin, but if you have to say something like “i thought that wide stances were cool”, then you need to find something else to do…snowboarding isn’t about what’s cool or about how you look or even what other people think of you. it’s about loving the mountain and loving to ride. we ride wider stances than back in the day because it makes it easier to control your board, spin, etc. not because it’s a fad. Craig Kelly…don’t forget him.
yo, i thought this was the new mack dawg picture. can’t blame me, seeing as theyve been turning out the same old shit for the past 15 years. weeeeeeerd.
you guys will never know what it means. who gives a damn what type of stance you have. you could ride northwest style and have a good time. if you dont know what the northwest stance is, your too young and dont know anything about snowboarding.
most of, if not all of snowboarding style and skill originates from the stance which a rider chooses. so don’t be all “stances arent important” and “we are core riders who ride for fun” cause you don’t even know the half (or whole) of it (depending on whether you say stances are half of or all of a snowboarders skill. wide stances rule!
After 15 years of snowboarding i admitt that haakonsen force me to respect.
At first i was against his fake domination, but having a look at its style & carreer
RESPECT
i dont know about u bro but i definitely dont ride to win comps. i ride cause i love to and to have fun, but if hitting big jumps or getting steezy on some rail is fun for you then do it. dont hate on people doing their own thing and just doing what they think is fun
Its funny when these trendy “kids” think that newschool tricks are newschool! They need to watch some old videos to understand the roots and where it all began. The 90s were dominated by “late” tricks and kids today think this is new? How hilarious.
I completely understand that the sport has progression 100fold since then, however, the pioneers of the sport do not get the credit they deserve by todays newer riders. Kidwell, among many others, started the freestyle movement and when you ask kids today about the history of the sport, they seem to think that Craig kelley “founded snowboarding”. Rant over. Kids… lesson for today watch oldschool videos and learn your roots! YOU may think the riding and the clothes were goofy back then, but no goofier than the bizarre nonsene you guys are accessorizing with today!
