i think its a general opinion that all of us on transworld hate shawn white. but hands down, hes going to fucking kill the pipe competition this year in the X-games and all the pipe other comps. This is ridiculous, and i hope hes not a selfish bastard and has some notable pipe riders get runs on this feature of epic proportions

a handful of other riders have learned double flips in the pipe without spending an obsurd amount of money on their own halfpipe. One of the biggest wastes of money I have ever seen. disgusting

did you see the terrain that was surrounding that pipe? It amazes me that he would get helied out to ride halfpipe instead of all that natural terrain.

He didnt get helied out to that pipe its at Silverton. There are some amazing lines that run to that area hopefully he was sessioning that before pipe runs.

so many shaun white haters. anybody on here would take do what he is doing if they had the skill/privilege; if you wouldn't, you're a moron. he got to where he is through natural talent and hard work. how many other riders could get to where he is growing up in so cal?he's definitely had help along the way, but regardless, few other people are capable of doing what he's done given the same circumstances. suck it fags.

I am not a shaun white fan by any means, not because of what he has done off hill though, i simply just dont like his style. But you have to take into consideration a couple things here. To start off with its not like he paid for the pipe, and i doubt he even asked for it. Red Bull set up the entire thing most likely. Now you could say "oh then Red Bull just wasted a shit ton of money" and yes while that is true, the amount of money that went back into the industry just from this one project is going to be huge. Silverton profited from this, Transworld profited from this, Red Bull Burton Oakley and so on. Its all (mostly )money that will eventually be put back into the industry. For Example Red Bull probably gave Silverton that heli which is going to take you to the top next time your there. So stop hatting on the coperate riders and coperate companies. Riders are given such a short amount of time to make a living for the rest of their lives to not only support them selves but their families aswell, shauns smart. And as much as the coperate companies spend, they put a hell of alot of money into the industry, like sponsoring your local park. (Always support the little guys though)

wow shawn is a little baby i was behind him in the lift line at northstar last year for the dew tour and he had another body guard hold two more boards form him and shawn yelled at the guy for bumping the tail on the side of the chair lift. hahaha you bet we all talked shit to him on the chair and the little kid was getting even more red!!! hahaha. i also asked his body guard to hold mine. they were really mean and angery. horible image if you ask me. he is a jerk!!

Shaun White is going to rip apart every pipe comp this year, you idiots all wonder why they would give him a private pipe with a foam pit? If he fucks himself up then his season is gone, his sponsors wouldn't be prepared to have him out for a season, he's obviously aiming to win everything this year and training doubles on some standard pipe with everyone else isn't gonna be the way to win. He's doing next level shit in his next level pipe. Everyone that hates on him probably wants to keep seeing Chris Bradshaw do back 180 reverts at Bear all year, Shaun is progressing, get over it.

I agree its all marketing to be honest, think of all the kids out there that just saw that video and say "mom mom shaun white rides a burton bored can i have one for my birthday christmas ect…" keep into account that advertising is the biggest focal point here. It doesnt matter how much was spent on that mega ramp because the snow was free and only the labor was what costed them. The money isnt the issue its getting your name out there and if tattooing some long haired red headed pothead (420 all day) with energy drink stickers is gunna do it, well then damn lets do it in style…now if you guys dont mind…ill be ordering my new shaun white edition burton board while i sip on this red bull…

I'm pretty sure he's been done training there for awhile…and he didn't invite anyone else. Maybe there will be another sesh, but it'd be pretty hard to maintain something like that for any period of time.

I think that this takes out some of the fairness from the spirit of competition. This is a teaching aid that none of the other riders have access to. i don't really feel good about this being a part of competitive snowboarding.
I understand the idea of progression in our sport and what this is supposed to do for it, but snowboarding has always progressed, and it has never before needed a foam pit.

you want to market a halfpipe session? how about me and ten of my friends get to ride and red bull can film it. then, with the millions of dollars you save, you can make your product better, or donate some money to a smaller mountains terrain park, making them a new feature, or hosting an am contest.
its not all black and white, you dont have to either be a millionaire snowboarder or live on a couch and ride for rome. you can make a good living as a professional and still have the respect of the industry that pays you, not the respect of people who shop at target, drink mountain dew, and wear axe body spray.

Do you know that Red Bull sold 3 billion cans in 2006 alone, so they have earned an obsurd amount of money to spend on whatever they want. last slopestyle comp at the x games shaun white was doing a "backlip" down one of the staircases…
it was a slightly crooked bs 50-50…
as a judge I probably would of dished out nagitive points for calling that a backlip.
and in the pipe alot of the time he lands in the flat in order to whip his spins around…
your right, he is stuck up, but his riding is just as flawed as most, and his style isint very uniuqe. I think the reason he is where he is, is because he was really good as a kid… so it just kinda followed thru to his adulthood.

It seems like Kevin was a-lot smarter when e found an air-bag on the internet and brought it up to the mammoth pipe to learn Double McTwists etc. Rather than just wasting tons of money he came up with a better Idea all on his own and pulled it off. Nice Kevin!!!
