2015 Standout Performance Of The Year
[Dylan’s speech starts at 4:10 in the video above.]
The Standout Performance Of The Year award is reserved for a rider who did something exceptionally or out of the box, which doesn’t quite fit in a Video or Rider Of The Year category. Past winners include Mad Jonsson in 2005 for setting the record for longest jump on a snowboard with a 187-foot frontside 360, Mikey Leblanc in 2011 for his part in Videograss’s Bon Voyage, and Nicolas Müller in 2013 for winning the X Games Real Snow Backcountry and filming parts for Absinthe’s Resonance, and Pirate’s Unique 8.
This year’s Riders’ Poll ballot included Billy Morgan’s first-ever quad cork, Yuki Kadono’s first back-to-back 1620 triple corks in competition, and Xavier De Le Rue using paramotors to air drop into big mountain lines.
However, mirroring a growing interest in more relatable, stylish, and fun snowboarding, the riders voted in favor of Dylan Gamache and his next-level carving progression. That same type of interest gave the Drink Water movie, Pathology Project, the Video Of The Year title last year.
Thanks Dylan Gamache for giving us the kind of stylish carves and flat ground maneuvers that we rewind again and again because we can’t stop watching.
