Last summer Randall Stacy got caught in a massive avalanche at Cerro Catedral. I found out about it from an email with a vimeo video link. The video (here) was a bunch of Randall’s footy and the last shots were of the slide. Anyone and everyone who watched the clip couldn’t believe he survived the slide. This August I met Randall down at SASS. He’s a real cool kid. Older than his age and a ripping snowboarder. We talked about his near-death experience while hanging at the SASS lodge one night. Here’s what he had to say.

uuhhhhh why would that have anything to do with being caught in an avalanche like that?? it takes mmost all skiers/snowboarders to have that near death experience before they really up their awareness with snow safety anyway. This kid is sick, and he's learning more and more about avy safety every season…….I don't imagine any of you fools talking shit on here about east coasters make it down to SA every summer……so grow up.
