Alek Oestreng is hyper-critical of his own riding and ultra-selective of the tricks that end up in his video parts. A subtle hand movement most wouldn't notice is enough for Alek to scrap a clip. Anything that might come off as a gimmick isn't going to make the cut either. Already been done? Definitely not going in.
He's a snowboard nerd in the way that Scott Stevens is; he studies others' riding and puts his own take on what inspires him. Not surprisingly, there are similarities in their snowboarding.
