Santa Fe Springs, CA (February 25, 2004) – Northstar-at-Tahoe plays host tothe world’s best snowboarders March 5-7, 2004, as the Vans North AmericanChampionships of Snowboarding come to North Lake Tahoe for the finale of theVans Triple Crown of Snowboarding. Danny Kass, Tommy Czeschin, Andy Finch,Steve Fisher, Tara Dakides, Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark lead the charge forthe overall Vans Triple Crown Men’s and Women’s Titles as more than 100professional boarders vie for a prize purse in excess of $125,000 and thekeys to a 2004 Ford Ranger FX4 truck. The Vans Championships will also bebroadcast to a national television audience, airing on Fox Sports Net onMarch 25 at 4:00 p.m. regionally.

The Vans North American Championships consist of three events – Slopestyle,Super Pipe and Rail Jam. In Slopestyle, riders make a run loaded withjumps, a quarter pipe and hand rails with the run judged on consistency andlevel of difficulty. In the Super Pipe event, riders utilize the Super Pipewalls to perform tricks judged on difficulty, execution and height. TheRail Jam features riders each taking a stab at pulling off the toughestmoves on a specially built competition rail in a less formal setting, butwith big cash on the line.

The Vans North American Championships are the third and final stop of theVans Triple Crown of SnowboardingÒ, following the Mountain Dew Pro Nationalsat Breckenridge Ski Resort in December and the Built Ford ToughChampionships at Mammoth Mountain at the end of January. To win the overalltitle, an athlete must earn points tabulated from the three Vans TripleCrown Series events.
