USASA Nationals—Two Decades Deep
When snowboarding was crawling through its infancy some twenty years ago, TransWorld Snowboarding donated $500 to an amateur surf coach by the name of Chuck Allen in hopes of planting a grassroots snowboard organization. What eventually blossomed was the United States Amateur Snowboarding Association (USASA), a governing body that has nurtured snowboarding through local competition and events since 1988.
Twenty seasons later and five-thousand strong, USASA continues to grow, channeling snowboard talent from across the country and into the final showdown, Nationals. A significant stop on a journey that almost every one of snowboarding’s elite has dipped into. From Shaun White, Danny Davis, and Chanelle Sladics to Eddie Wall and Pat Moore, the USASA alumni list runs deep in snowboarding and it’s one of the best ways to get into the thick of the shred scene.
