Torstein Horgmo slammed it shut with his last part hammers in Standard’s Aesthetica. The new killers, like Torstein, know that contest results and video parts strike the perfect balance for a steady pro career. He is off to a damn good start. This Norwegian kid is just getting his winter under way, so we got him to talk before he hits the road for a long winter of flinging himself.
How much time will you spend at home in Norway this winter and how much time traveling? Where are you heading?
Well I’m home now, and leaving in a couple weeks. Then I’ll be back for Christmas & New Years and that’s about it! I’ll be gone all season pretty much. I think I’ll be mostly in the states all winter. I’ve got a Visa now, so I can come in and out of In-n-Out as much as I want. I’d give up a lot to have that Double-Double in Norway!
When you are in the states, where is your home away from home? Keep your sled, lay your head?
My truck mostly, ha ha! I don’t stay in one spot for too long, so I mostly just crash at friend’s places. I walked away from last season without buying a sled, I just borrowed—but I’m getting one this year. I honestly don’t have a clue where to keep it while I’m gone. Probably get some type of storage solution somewhere.
Talk about the DC ams.
Buzzard (Chas Guldemond) is killing it in his own way, Lonnie’s shredding so strong and landing like a feather every time, and Ryan Tiene’s sending it in the backcountry. They’re a good crew and super fun to hang out with.
What movies did you like from the past year
I filmed for Standard’s Aesthetica and Park City’s I ride Park City, so I’m into those first off … I just saw These Days and those guys really killed it. Double Decade was a big must see for me, and I’m Down with People! He he. Otherwise, Batman was crazy!
Daniel Franck, Terje, Andreas Wiig. Comment on the Norwegian tradition
Those guys have all set the standard year after year, and done so much for snowboarding and what it is today. Very Inspirational to me, the North way.
Who do you see coming up, new Norwegian blood?
There’re a lot of them, but I think we’ll hear a lot about names like Ståle Sandbech and Gjermund Braaten, very soon.
What are you looking forward to the most for this season?
Riding with my friends. I also can’t wait to learn new stuff and see new places.

November 5th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Damn that park is legit. I thought Park City had a good park but that thing murders PC in comparison. I like how long an flowing it is.
Torstein is super good as well.
November 5th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Effortless my ass, he put a lot of effort into limping his arms and banging every landing. Posed style and even bigger kook.
November 5th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
too bad burton is ruining snowboarding i would rather see a skier filming then a guy wearing/using any equipment made by burton including RED and anon fuuuuuucker
November 5th, 2008 at 2:49 pm

November 5th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
that park lap was sick!
November 5th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
It’s like a video game. Does this dude ever get tired. Incredible.
November 5th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
what are you talking about man burton is the most legit company out there. they’ve been at it hard since day one and never sold out. just because they’re a big company doesn’t mean they’re ruining snowboarding especially since they’re so far ahead of the curve then anyone else out there. unlike the company you are riding right now which is most likely owned by some big company in asia burton is still owned by it’s founder jake burton. they’ve never sold out and never will so long as he has something to say about it. enjoy riding your McDonald’s snowboard homes.
November 5th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
p.s. burtonfolife most follow cams are done by skiers. especially when filming jump lines
November 5th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
I knew the man was good, but that good…
unbelieveable! even better than his switch back 9s or 12s.
food for style thoughts!
November 5th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
well first off I ride a never summer which is made in Colorado maybe Burton should stop making their boards in Canada and try and help stop the United States recession. Ahead of the curve? They did not come out with reverse camber did they? and that is what the new “curve” is about because this is the best thing to happen to snowboarding since…well ever. They have sold out too because where are they sold at? Basically any shop or target in the country which is complete bull shit they should care about what stores their boards are sold at to make sure they are represented well. As for not selling out is doing an HP commercial good for snowboarding? Cause I think it is trying to bring snowboarding into the well-to-do only grouping and selling a board for 1000+ helps prove they don’t help out the homies.
November 5th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
i believe the best thing to happen to snowboarding ever was the highback. sorry pal. burton and never summer are both great brands so lets quit the hatin
November 5th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
u must be retarded. that run was amazing. he destroyed that entire park and landed everything perfectly with great style. it looks bad when ur arms are all over the place. nstar represent
November 6th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Yeah that was def the best part that I have seen in a while. Represents what a true park killer can do, makes it look effortless. smooth style and sick tricks.
November 6th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
That park run was sick. I could tell he wasn’t even trying super hard, just cruising. He beat everything up in sight, then threw down some bangers in the pipe.
For those young jibber dorks in the local park…THAT IS HOW IT’S DONE !
November 8th, 2008 at 11:21 am
didnt burton try to patent the snowboard or something like that thats kinda balls…
ps. TH is killing it souch a solid allover rider good job dude
November 8th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
The crew at Northstar put together the best park in the lake. Sick Chris
November 8th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

November 8th, 2008 at 7:57 pm

November 9th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

November 9th, 2008 at 5:15 pm

why the fuck does it matter if hes a skier?
there better for follow up filming and i kno a few skiers that are pretty tight
November 9th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
tit melons
November 9th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
mad respect.
November 10th, 2008 at 3:34 am
burton is ruining the snowboard economy by buying out all the other companys. but there still alright
November 10th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Wow, I just watched Aesthetica and I must say that his part was the most impressive segment I have seen from this year thus far, I have yet to check out TITA so things could change, regardless this dude threw down last year. I was there for the Alpine Meadows shoot, that jump was so huge and seeing the footage from it was tight. I am stoked to see what he can pull off this year and in the years to come, keep it up Torstein
November 11th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
way to cut off everyone waiting in line for the jumps.. tool
November 12th, 2008 at 11:12 am
i think mack’s just jealous….he ain’t nearly that good
quit hatin dude and shut up
November 22nd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
i would be honored to be snaked by torstein
December 13th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
burton used to be a great brand… then they hit the top and stoped putting effort into making their equipment… they just mass produce their product.. thats why they never run out of stock… i am a snowboard instructor and ALL the burton gear i have ever seen has broken… burton brought snowboarding to where it is but now they’re just sucking the money straight from your wallets…
December 17th, 2008 at 2:06 am
sick steez
December 17th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Wow it’s too bead he’s good at every thing he ever does in the park and pipe
January 21st, 2009 at 9:09 pm
yo i like burton but kinda have no respect 4 them. like that kids said they stoped puting effort into thier boards. the 09 boards this year suck. the one board i was thinking of geting was the UNINC, but fucking burton made the board so you can only buy thier bindings which is bullshit.
