Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) is proud to announce “The Park — Wide Open #2 (Wide Open) set to take place February 12-18, 2005. This year, there is almost $20,000 in cash and over $10,000 in prizes on the line in several compelling events. The Wide Open features, The Park at Bear Mountain, the only mountain resort in the country devoted almost entirely to freestyle terrain parks and the youth market.
The All-Mountain Park is being built up to an unreal status prior to the Wide Open. There are hundreds of jumps and jibs all over the mountain. The Park Operations Team is rolling-out several new signature jibs including rails, boxes and wall rides, the likes of which, will not be found anywhere else. Two Super Parks are being built on Gold Rush and Gambler runs holding big jumps and advanced jibs. The only Superpipe in SoCal will be freshly built and in World Class form. Unique features being put into place for the Wide Open include: a true quarter-pipe witha tombstone gap, the Showtime Road Gap, a bowled wall ride, 90 ft. gateway box, 100 ft. double-barrel rail, junkyard jib park, The Scene street-style staircase features (for the Night Jib Jam Thing #2), The Scene 2 street-style rail garden, a double-table transfer, skate-style snow bowls, the Outlaw banked slalom course and literally tons of other features, all over the resort, like hidden features, boardercross courses, rock and log jibs and more.
Hundreds of people within the ski and snowboard industry have been invited including top pro-riders and media. There will be several fun events, parties and a weeks worth of daily and nightly photo shoots going down. All of the major industry media will be at the mountain covering the event such as Fusion TV, FUEL’s 54321, Project Detention, Transworld Snowboarding, Snowboarder, Freeskier, Happy and several others. There are also dozens of freelance photographers and filmers, who shoot for major magazines and snowboard/freeski movies, coming to Big Bear. “We have a very impressive list of riders and media coming into town for the Wide Open. This event is really going to blow up this year. And as for The Park, it is truly unreal. Our park Operations Team has done an amazing job of creating dozens of new features that no other resort has ever attempted.
