It was a chilly day at Stowe Mountain, Saturday, January 31st for the fourth
Main Event Stop of the season. With the sun shining and the wind howling,
riders poured in to take their turn on SnowGrind’s newest creation. The
course began with a Flat-down box, a down-flat- down rail and a mini rainbow
box, which lead into a Flat box and a 30′ down rail. Those jibs were just the
beginning of the fun before approaching the triple booter…A 60 ft table with two booters on either side
of a 40 ft cruiser jump option. It was cold outside but the jumps were hot for sure.
Adjacent to the course, The Mini Main Event sported its own mini 20 ft jump.
The groms showed up and threw down in their own 13 and under domain. The
winner of the Women’s Pro division was a grom herself, that blew away all of
the competition to the point of winning the top prize. Ty Walker from Stowe
VT, a young Roxy rider, killed it again for the second year in a row. Ty
won the Vermont Main Event stop last season, and showed the judges that she
hasn’t lost her edge this year. This 11 year old knows backside 360s like
the back of her hand. Keep your eyes on this one, she is sure to be one of
snowboarding’s future golden girls.
