torstein is dope, he shoulda won

  • leonard Says:

hopefully they work out the kinks next year, make it faster.

  • Pete Wast Says:

    Petey all night long!

  • sheldon Says:

felt bad for the riders, and red bull. spent all that time and $$$ for a pretty lame contest. Hope they bring it back full force in the future so the riders can thow something bigger than 7’s and backies. And they need to get new announcers, tired of all these seacrest wannabe’s hyping up a 540 like it’s revolutionary. and they called out the Loon last call for being wack, F ‘em.

  • jonny bravo Says:

^ those announcers were such douche wibblers, claiming it to be the first hip contest “in the world,” did they not watch fucking icer air like 5 months ago (which sucked as well). i think there’s a reason hip contests don’t go down that often

  • b12 Says:

holy crap that contest was the biggest let down EVER. so much money and hype for THAT??? i’m danny davis but i’m sure most people on this site could have at least straight aired that thing (if they could get enough speed). watching that was straight up a waste of my time

  • Mike Says:

As soon as i heard it was a hip jump i knew it was going to be awful. Did these people watch the icer air? hip jump contests are horrible. The designers probably forgot all about friction and speed. even I know that a 100 ft drop in to a 25 ft kicker won’t lauch you another 25-30 ft. It was painful wathcing the riders get thrown or pulled by that rope. and don’t forget landing was bad too. Hopefully Red Bull can get their act together next year.

  • money Says:

im just stoked on the fact that shaun white didnt win just on his name like x games super pipe

  • billy Says:

winning a contest should definately be won by who can spin the most hence spin to win

  • weaksauce Says:

Worst event ever. Ramp could’ve been 20 ft higher… I felt bad for all the pros who traveled from all over the world to hit some crap-ass feature. STEP IT UP RED BULL.

  • I agree Says:

Check Daniel Ek on a hip contest a few years back:

Kid is out of his mind!

  • skeevystoner Says:

I don’t know there was a contest in Chicago right outside of Soldier Field about 5 years ago that was pretty lame… Though the rail jam wasn’t bad. Hmmm urban riding in a city works better than rural jump riding in a city… Who wooda thunk? :-Z

  • zeek Says:

I was there the whole night and this sh*t what sick. The jusmp was unique but they could still throw huge 9s and fully extended backflips. Awsome was to end it with the dog pile on shayne who desirved it, he was geting farther down the landing and more hangtime with nice tricks, His board cut my shin!! haha

  • kjh Says:

if it was the x games shaun white would have won.

  • Sad Says:

Although this contest had many problems (terrible announcers, poor set up, and others), the biggest has to be the man-on-man format. Can someone at Transworld please write a piece on why this format sucks for big air comps.
The idea with big-air is not diversity of tricks or consistency of putting a trick down, it is to stomp something once that is off the hook. Pospisil should have lost solely because the only serious trick he tried was back sevens (not back nines like the announcers were saying). Seriously, the same trick over and over is so lame. I understand the desire to add drama, but instead this format turns it into an olympics diving type of gig - let’s see all the competitors do the same tricks over and over (sadly, they probably have way more variety in diving).
Although I could go on and on, I’ll stop now. But please! Stop doing man on man set-ups and rewarding guys for doing the same trick every time.
On a side note, anyone know what Terje did to get into the top 8? I didn’t see the jam session. Also, one footed down that run-in was ROWDY!

  • dude Says:

Zeek, stop writing now. You’ve already established that you are a huge gaper, don’t make it any worse. I’m really glad you are stoked on the constest and a little bit jealous of your naive grom-like stoke, but “fully extended backflips” are not “sick,” they are just fun.

  • freshcoast Says:

Hahahahahahah, New York named February 5th Red Bull Skyscraper day. Wackles. whoever did the math on that run in needs to go back to school. they could have cut that landing in half.

  • Gary Says:

    B12 claims he’s danny davis
    hahahahaha.
    Classic

  • josh Says:

    “I mean, I’m danny davis..”

  • josh Says:

definitely classic. i love reading these forums.

  • youwishyoucouldabeenthere Says:

so, it is easy to hate, complain and talk ish. the set up was what it was. Good idea and attempt regardless how it turned out. for all you little bitches, check yourselves without competetions hip style or x games Snowboarding will never get recognitionit deserves without them, nor will pros be able to snowboard for a living. Everyone at the event said it was epic. dope. diabolical. For all you who watched it via webcast or fuel and have beef. Open your mouths and i will feed you a load of beef. you all are incompetent, i will dump on your chests, smash your eyes with empty beer cans. your lifes worthless. get off the computer. quit yer bitching and suck some fat ones.

    suck on that.

  • gladiwasntthere Says:

I will smash your eyes with full beer cans.

  • gladiwasntthere Says:

You talked to everyone that was there? This comp took progression down a notch.

  • your mom was there and she liked it Says:

    you are dump.

  • your mom was there and she liked it Says:

the announcers were scripted. Not free stylin. Red Bulls fault not the announcers.

  • your mom was there and she liked it Says:

once again. it was scripted. you wouldnt know that though. you dont know anything.

and tell me what is the reason hip jumps dont go down that often. Who do you think you are?

  • j3 Says:

sounds like you had something to do with the orchestration of this thing.
atleast now that your jobless it means more time to shred.

  • i was there Says:

    it was alright.

    these contests are cool for
    1. people who just party at them
    2. people who win all the money
    3. companies who use these comps for marketing.

other than that it was way hyped, didnt do anything for real snowboarding, just sorta paid some peoples bills.

    i wouldnt worry about it.

i also wish it was still a rail jam, people get to stressed when stuff gets this stupid

  • Jolly Says:

Just so you know, hips use transition rules for spins. 7’s are considered 9’s because they are landing 90 degrees over 720.

  • mathman Says:

so they are 810’s then. sick

  • gostics Says:

As often you buy online? It is safe?
    I wish here dvd
    to take…

  • juuka Says:

this contest was bad the inrun had no speed and the guy who won did the same trick the whole comp. i think if they would have put heikki and eero in the final’s instead of terje and rice there could have been better results in the finals, you could clearly tell that in the jam section the judges were giving way to much credit for flips. i think they should have given it to torstein or lago they had the best run’s i thought… peace

  • Mitch Says:

i didnt see this…it looked pretty cool and they had anthrax there and a snowboard comp in NYC? thats sick! but like i said i didnt get a chance to see it so i dont know if it was acctually good or not. but does anyone know where to watch it? TV? somewhere on the internet?

  • zeek Says:

alright pussy lets come on transworld and argue about who think what is sick or fun. duchebag

  • i suck snow Says:

fuckin yes “dude” go kill yourself

  • fuck yes Says:

Thank you youwishyoucouldabeenthere for telling these pussy assholes how it is. I was there and it was awsome, epic, dope and diabolical . Stop bitching and crying about how bad it was because you were watching it on your moms 12 inch tv.

  • ???????? Says:

anyone know if there still doing the winter jam in the park. her the 16th they were gonna set up rails there with the extra snow for the public ?????????

  • Mark Says:

I would like to see you guys try and do what shayne did… you don’t have any right to be talking bad about the event and what went on… The best man won… GROW UP
