Burlington, Vermont—Are you a legend at your local hill? Do you have what it takes to be snowboarding’s next super shred? Then get ready to register for the US Open. Starting December 30th at midnight EST you can enter a lottery to compete at the 24th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships, held at Stratton Mountain, Vermont from March 13-19, 2006.
To register, head to www.opensnowboarding.com and sign up today. Because thousands of riders want a piece of the action, registration for the men’s and women’s slopestyle and halfpipe pre-qualifiers will be through a lottery. Sign up to be selected for these events from December 30 through February 1. All lottery entrants will be charged a non-refundable $5 processing fee. If your name is selected from the lottery, we will notify you by e-mail, credit the $5 fee towards your registration fee and will charge your credit card for the appropriate entry fee(s). If you don’t win a spot, your $5 will be donated to Chill, Burton’s non-profit learn to snowboard program. The Junior Jam, open to young rippers 13 years old and under, will continue to accept competitors on a first-come, first-serve basis, so sign up soon to secure a spot.
All riders who made it to the Halfipipe and Slopestyle finals of each event last year are automatically invited back to compete, and there are also wildcard spots available for top pros.
Competing at the US Open has been a rite of passage and honor for snowboarders for over two decades now. Open to amateurs and top pros alike, the US Open gives all riders the chance to compete for a world-class title and features a quarterpipe, halfpipe, slopestyle and junior halfpipe contests.
