STRATHAM, N.H., June 2– The Timberland Company (NYSE: TBL) today announced its title sponsorship of this summer’s most comprehensive celebration of the great outdoors — the Timberland Gorge Games, scheduled for July 12 – 19. Taking place in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in Oregon, the Games include a multitude of outdoor sports competitions and a vast range of outdoor activities and concerts for the whole family. This year’s event is expected to attract approximately 1,500 athletes and 25,000 spectators from around the world.

The Timberland Gorge Games is designed for all age groups and includes competition in the following sports: Mountain Biking, Sailing, Windsurfing, Hawaiian Kayaking, Trail Running, Volksport, Paragliding, Kiteskiing, Climbing, and Snowboarding. Other activities include: Equestrian Trail Riding, Footbag, Ultimate Frisbee and Climbing. Organized activities for kids include: a kid’s climbing wall, miniature mountain bike course, archery, skateboarding, in-line skating, as well as fun hikes and clinics of all kinds to provide the much needed encouragement for kids to participate in outdoor recreation.
Live outdoor concerts during the festival feature some of the area’s top bands, including an opening night concert by Little Feat – July 12th. Rounding out the outdoor celebration will be environmental forums throughout the Games to provide participants with information about urgent issues affecting wildlife and ecosystems.
