Bend, Ore. — April 12, 2004 —Kevin Jones, Josh Dirksen, Andy Finch and nine other well known riders will be competing in the televised Bud Light Snowboard Rodeo on Mt. Bachelor, Saturday, April 17 at 11:00 AM.
Presented by Toyota, the “rodeo riders will be competing in this made-for-TV event in a specially designed arena near the West Village Lodge. Jones is a Bend resident, Dirksen rides for Mt. Bachelor and Finch is the 2003 US Snowboard Grand Prix Halfpipe champion. Competing in addition to those three will be Mt. Bachelor Team rider David Scaffidi, 2003 Rodeo Champion Ryan Paris, 2004 Bachelor Big Air champ Forrest Devore, Wyatt Caldwell, Bjorn Leines, Silas Stannard, Ahman Stamps, Zach Leach and Nate Sheehan.
Friday, April 16 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM the athletes will be signing autographs at Side Effect Board Shop, 1244 NW Galveston in Bend. Following the rodeo at 8:00 PM will be the “Scion After-Party at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain featuring the Sons of Savalas with members of Porno for Pyros.
There is no cost to attend any of the events so spectators are encouraged to arrive early as prime viewing spots will fill fast. The Bud Light/White Fang beer garden for those 21 years and older will be open at the bottom of the rodeo arena.
The Bud Light Snowboard Rodeo will be filmed for a one hour broadcast later in 2004. The event will be shown on regional television in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Utah and Colorado.
Sunny skies and great snow conditions have highlighted springtime at Mt. Bachelor. While most resorts in North America are closing for the season Mt. Bachelor still has a base snow depth of 132 inches. The season is expected to go until memorial Day, May 31, 2004.
