Canadian-based Japanese TransWorld photographer Dice-K Maruyama spent a lot of time shooting with the infamous NoBoard crew this past winter. He even went with them from B.C. to explore the potential of snowsurfing in Japan. This diplomatic mission shared the goodness of powder-shred-love between two cultures with a common passion; winter fun in the mountains. Dice brought back these images and many tales to tell. Check ’em out.

Noboarding is cool! I think I understand the soul of the sport, even though I have never surfed in my life. But damn some of these guys are going huge! Like it makes me jealous, riding in the midwest is fun but nobody will noboard here (lol). I’ll stick to my snowboarding but I have the utmost respect for these guys.

wow. so effin sick and so stoked to see a group of guys pushing snowboarding (or some variation of it) in a way that is truly progressive. keep up the noboard coverage transworld. this is stoking me out more than anything else right now and i haven’t even tried it yet.

Hey Skeevydtoner and Ben, thanks for the comment. Before I met the NoBoarders, I didn’t even know what NoBoard was. I thought that NoBoard was one of the other snowboard brands. I broke my leg 14 seasons ago and haven’t been able to put binding strap on my ankle but, I finally got back on board. The soul of snowboarding came back to my heart and just as stoked. I will keep on shooting more NoBoard photos. Stay tuned.

the original noboard is the BRUNSWICK SNURFER, so I think that calling this second coming of our roots progressive is a bit off base. Noboarding is the best thing to happen to snowboarding since bindings. Our sport has become over saturated with a fashion show sell out mtv mentality so it is great to see some real riders bringing it back to where it began and hopefully some of you young bucks will wake up and start seeing that this sport is more then sponsorship and parting. LIVE THE DREAM RESPECT THE MOUNTAIN nice job DICE!

have to disagree gnarman… snowboarding may have started without binders, but dudes were hardly turning on their brunswick snurfers, much less one footing road gaps. i think that noboarding is taking modern day snowboarding to the next level.
maybe snowboards should have never evolved into incorporating bindings in the first place?

amazing! can’t wait to shred mine!

If snowboards never ended up with bindings i would never get to ride here in Ontario, Noboards need deep POW.
