ALTS Bandal Resort, Fukushima, Japan—Danny Davis, Highland, Michigan, wins his first major professional snowboarding event and Keir Dillon, Carlsbad, California, secures second place as the two athletes represented by Mosaic Management, LLC dominated the Superpipe event at the Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open 2006 Snowboarding Championships.
Davis, the 17 year-old rookie, impressed the crowd and judges by switching up each of his three runs with his frontside 1080’s, cab 1080’s, frontside 900’s and backside 900’s. With each run Davis continued to raise the level of his riding with explosive amplitude and smooth technical prowess earning him the $20,000.00 first place prize.
“I am so stoked to have shared this win with Keir, he is a huge inspiration to me and pushes me every time we ride together, Davis stated. “This is my first time to Japan and I am overwhelmed by the energy and love we have received here, exclaimed a beaming Davis.
Dillon was feeling the love as well from the enthusiastic crowd and put together awe inspiring runs combining his huge signature mctwists, frontside 1080’s, stylish lien airs and mctwist 900’s. Dillon earned $10,000.00 for his second place finish.
“We had great weather, a good pipe and tons of energy from the crowd here, stated Dillon. ” I am happy to have a good result here and look forward to the rest of the competition season.
Later this week Davis will be competing in the Arctic Challenge Snowboarding Event in Oslo, Norway and Dillon will be competing at the Vans Cup in Tahoe, California. Both riders will be competing at the US Open of Snowboarding in Stratton, Vermont from March 16th-19th, 2006.
