TAHOE CITY, CA— Global Event Management (GEM), sport organizers for the Winter X Games, announced today that they will be moving the 2004 X Games Qualifier to Sugarbowl Resort located in Truckee, California.
Starting in 1999 the best skiers in the world descended on Lake Tahoe to see if they had what it took to compete in the Winter X-Games. Now, six years later, both skiers and snowboarders are gearing up to see if they can capture the final coveted spots for the 2004 Winter X-Games. With the addition of boardercross to last year’s competition the skiers are not the only ones making travel plans to Lake Tahoe.
For most extreme athletes an invitation to the X-Games is the highest honor in their individual sports. When 2004 rolls around all eyes will be on Sugarbowl Resort, and those athletes who want to qualify for the upcoming games, must be there. Both skiers and snowboarders, men & women, will battle for the final spots in hopes of making their debut for the largest extreme sporting event in the world.
With the announcement of Boardercross as an Olympic sport this event will give athletes and spectators a glimpse of what is in store for the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. The 2004 Paul Mitchell X Games Qualifier is open to the public and is free of charge.
