Vans Triple Crown Comes to Mammoth

Olympic Medallists Powers, Kass, Thomas and Clark Among Those Expected to Compete

Santa Fe Springs, CA (January 7, 2003) ? Vans, Inc (NASDAQ: VANS): The Built Ford Tough Championships of Snowboarding hit Mammoth Mountain, California January 23-26 as the $375,000 Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding comes to the Eastern Sierra resort for the first time. The pre-eminent series in snowboarding attracts the biggest names in the sport as the world?s best riders including America?s Olympic medallists, Ross Powers, Danny Kass, JJ Thomas and Kelly Clark plus Todd Richards, Shaun White, Gretchen Bleiler and Tommy Czeschin are all expected to attend. For those who can?t attend the event in person, all the action will be broadcast on NBC Sports on April 5 at 2:30 pm EST.

The 2002-03 Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding series is off to an exciting start following action at Breckenridge during the weekend of December 13-15. International riders have turned on the heat as non-Americans claimed four of the six titles awarded on the weekend. To win the overall title, an athlete must earn points tabulated from the three Vans Triple Crown Series events. The overall men?s winner will take home a Ford Ranger FX4, while the women?s champion will win a trip for two to Hawaii.
