#5 Tailgate Alaska
Called a Utopian snowboard experience, this grassroots Alaskan event/party/shredfest/campout/crash course in AK went down as one of those “you should’ve been there” events of the year. Are you down?
#4 Last Call At Loon Mountain
For ten years now, Eastern Boarder—best shops in the east—have been putting on the Last Call. It is the official/unofficial last hurrah of the season with a storied past of badass riding, beer-fueled mayhem, and good times. Every year it attracts pros with East Coast roots and locals galore. Not to be missed if you are back east after the U.S. Open.
#3 Team Shoot Out
Yes, it’s our event but we’ve gotta claim it. This event is all about creativity. Getting four teams to make the best video and shoot the best photos results in sick stuff each year. Salomon won it in 2010! But really all the teams—Volcom, Rome, & Nitro—killed it.
#2 Mount Baker Legendary Banked Slalom
The Baker Banked is practically the mother of all snowboard events. For 25 years, this event has drawn incredible crowds—from snowboarding’s best and baddest to the unknown local soldiers of the Northwest. There is nothing like being there. From the start shack to the salmon bake and bonfire in the parking lot, the LBS is a cultural institution. All shredders should experience it at least once in their life.
#1 Grand Prix Series
The finalé of the Olympic pipe event wasn’t really all that after the wild riding that went down in the Grand Prix Series. The events were charged with intensity and riders were going ballistic. Pushing and risking it all, riders rode hard in the GP’s. This video ends with Danny Davis’ Mammoth GP victory run. It went down as the sickest pipe run ever.
