Tahoe City, CA… The Tom Burt Pig Air Festival & Snowboard Contest will once again reign over the Alpine Meadows terrain park Saturday, May 3. Originally scheduled for Saturday, April 23, the event has been moved due to a behemoth Alaska storm aimed straight at Tahoe, which is expected to drop two feet of snow. Please re-mark your calendars!

Inspired by the basketball game, P.I.G., competitors try to match each others’ tricks off of a big air jump – or foil other competitors by setting precedence with difficult tricks, leaving opponents with a letter. If a competitor gets all three letters to spell P.I.G., s/he is eliminated from the competition!

As one of snowboarding’s first and most successful professional athletes, Tom Burt is a leader in the industry. By putting together an event like PIG Air, his intention is to raise money for the North Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club.

PIG PARTY — Live Bands, Good Brew, Great Prizes

If you haven’t been paying attention, start now: Ground Up, Northern California’s most sought-after punk band, will play on the Alpine Meadows sundeck at the PIG Air awards ceremony at 2pm. With original lyrics appreciated by all ages and a sound all their own, Ground Up has made a name for themselves, as well as a heavy following.

Sacramento Brewing Company will also be in awards-party mode, providing two fresh kegs to all with proper I.D. Stop by to try a Hefe Weizen or Red Horse Ale.

First place winners of PIG Air will receive 2003-2004 midweek season passes to Alpine Meadows. Other prizes will include Winterstick Snowboards (Tom rides Winterstick), and other soft-goods swag.

Also, enter the swag raffle to help raise money for the Boys & Girls club and win great snowboard gear.
