Ingemar Backman is planning one of the biggest comebacks in modern day snowboarding. Ingemar, and former G Spot owner Gregor Hagelin are starting a clothing and snowboard company out of Sweden whose name rhymes with pee. Look forward to seeing photos of Ingy in future issues of TWS.

Despite the fact that J2 will slide any rail thrown his way, Megan Pischke and he have gone separate ways. Meg's has been seen wooing a French-Canadian shred dawg ten years her junior and Two's has been seen punching a side of beef.

You're stoked if you're age six through eighteen living in the state of Utah. The Legacy Ski and Ride Program at Park City Mountain Resort is giving you the chance to learn to ski and/or snowboard for free this season. The resort will provide free skiing and snowboarding lessons, free equipment rentals, and free first time lift tickets to Utah kids every Friday and Saturday night of the winter season starting January 7 and continuing through the year 2002. Rossignol has rebuilt their international test center at the top of chair 4 in Vail, Colorado. The old center was deliberately set on fire last year by non-snowboarding arsonists. Frickin' bastards. Leprechaun Mikey LeBlanc may even tell you where he hid his Lucky Charms. Blaise Rosenthal's new hobby consists of losing his shoes, slurring his words, and getting kicked out of karaoke bars. While on the subject of karaoke, Tara Dakides and Circe Wallace appeared on MTV's Say What Karaoke opposite Simon Woodstock. Needless to say, the girls should stick to boardin'.

Wave Rave's Web site waverave.com is updated and running. The company has also announced the beginning of its “Keep The Dream Alive Contest.” The contest's grand prize will be a trip to Colorado to ride with the Wave Rave crew at a variety of scenic and breathtaking locations in Summit County. To win, entrants must send their most horrifyingly true story about a good trip gone bad. The best letter will win the grand prize and be published in the company's own mini magazine, Skidmark.

The 1999/2000 U.S. Snowboard Team announced that World Cup halfpipe champion Tricia Byrnes and former world giant slalom champion Sondra Van Ert are joining the team. Also joining the team for 2000 is former World Championship medalist Lisa Kosglow.

Vans has opened the world's largest skatepark at the Ontario Mills shopping center in Ontario, California. The new 60,000-square-foot facility features three in-ground cement bowls, the world's largest snakerun with a bowl, an intermediate bowl, and a pee wee bowl. Washed-up boarders are moving up in the world and DC Shoe Company is no exception. Brian Botts is now responsible for boot development and the occasional lift on qualified team rider's trucks. DC has restructured their entire snow team and it goes a little something like this: Pros for the industry trendsetters are Todd Richards and Scotty Whitlake. New to the Flow team are Jordan Menenhall and Micah McGinnity.

Snowboarding's red-headed spazz-child Andrew Crawford is rockin' Billabong outerwear this season. Crawford joins forces with Kevin Jones, Axel Pauporté, Noah Salasnek, Risto Scott, Kale Stephens, Ami Voutilainen, Kurt Wastell, and Kendell Whelpton. Red-headed badass Kurt Wastell will likely keep Crawford in line.

K2 frontman and Bluebird Wax entrepreneur Lance Pitman and one of his friends recently delved into the world of S and M at the Maison de Sade in New York City. Lance spanked some girls and his friend got bound and whipped. The women then did some product testing of Bluebird's latest line by pouring hot wax on Lance's friend, while “Sex Is Violence” by Jane's Addiction played on the stereo. Lance summed up his experience quite eloquently for us, “I's from Wyomin', never seen shit like dat before.”

Darrin Cingel has recovered from a little biking incident that occured in the off-season and is working on his pro model for Santa Cruz snowboards for the 2001/02 season. Santa Cruz has a new boardercross team lineup that they are saying, off the record, will kick everyone's ass. Newcomers to the team are Tor Bruserud and Line Oestvold. New to the amatuer team is Sarah Meyers.

Winnebago Warriors beware: Jeff Brushie has recently bought a 30-foot FourWinds Fun Mover. Jeff plans on cruisin' around to some contests, but mostly just trying to get some good riding in. Jeff is also converting it to four-wheel drive so he can get to the snowy spots and unload the two sleds that fit in the back of this beast. Jeff is willing to test the limits of his V10 if the situation ever rises. Could there be a possible showdown at the U.S. Open between fellow RV owner Jason Evans? The eighteenth annual U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships will take place March 16—19 at Stratton, Vermont. World Industries now claims to have a portal in their warehouse that goes directly to Hell without passing go. They also say they have sponsored Mack Dawg's new movie, the later sounding a little bit more realistic. Worldindustries.com is revamped and ready for bitness. Speaking of livers, Sean Kearns has been training religiously in order to keep up with snowboarders half his age. His regimen includes long workouts at the Palladium, followed by cool-downs at Cecil's. Dufficy is enjoying his job at Nubile (Fourstar Canada) and doing demo tours this winter, setting up Forum tents at different events throughout Canada. Congratulations go out to Dionne Delesalle who recently picked up second-degree brown-belt status.
