July 25, 2003; Seymour, CT- Thule, the world leading manufacturer of sport racks and car carrying solutions, has released the third generation of its Rack-It Science (RIS) sales training program. Available online and on CD-Rom, Rack-It Science III incorporates video training demonstrations to help retail sales associates through the sales process, from greeting the customer to closing the sale. RIS III includes a companion workbook that follows along with the video tutorials and includes quizzes to test aspiring Rack-It Scientists on their rack knowledge upon completing the tutorials.

“Rack-It Science has been an integral part of our training of sales associates,” said Steve Doviak, Thule Marketing Manager. “The people on the sales floor have a great impact on customers buying decisions, and with Rack-It Science we hope to provide them with the tools necessary to sell more Thule racks.”

The Rack-It Science program was first introduced 5 years ago and has evolved from being product driven to a balance between sales techniques and product information. The video demonstrations break the sales experience down to 8 steps to help guide the associates through assessing the customer’s needs, presenting appropriate products, and closing the sale.

RIS III is the first of the series to have a companion workbook that guides the Rack-It Scientist-to-be through the program and reinforces the high points of the videos including Techniques to Learn and Questions to Learn. RIS III also includes a glossary of rack terminology and a section of Frequently Asked Questions.

Associates who complete the program are offered a choice of swag and those who earn their Rack-It Scientist diploma can purchase Thule product at a substantial discount off wholesale pricing. Stores whose associates have completed the program receive a window sticker to display that they are a Rack-It Science certified retailer and are identified as such in Thule’s online dealer locator at Thuleracks.com.

Thule worked with Growth Cycle, the producers of the Selling Cycling series, to create Rack-It Science III. Thule sales representatives will distribute Rack-It Science III to their retailers to complement their dealer visits and clinics.
