SPY+GRENADE GAMES 7

Words: Kevin Casillo

This past weekend, in our own backyard, Grenade, Monster, SPY+ and Skullcandy presented the “7th Annual Grenade Games”. The Grenade Games are a way of giving back to the snowboard community, kids from all over can come and shred with there friends, heros etc.. in multiple events over a 2 day span. This year Grenade decided to bring it back to the USA and to Bear Mtn.

We rolled up on friday afternoon to Bear, the weather was beautiful with not a cloud in the sky, went straight to the hill, bannered up some SPY+ love all around for the nights party and the events to come the next day. After all was said and done we checked into the condo and got our chill on before getting ready for the welcoming party.

After a night of dancing, drinks and good times with tons of great friends, we arrived at the base of the Chinese Eyed Down Hill and Dual Jib Slalom and set up our tent that we called home for the next two days. We met up with Louie Vito and Eero Niemela to take some warm up laps in the park, which I must say was so on point, great jumps, great jibs, great snow!

As the day proceeded on, the crew and I did hot laps with a go pro, stacking footy for future edits while the crowd at the base lodge started to grow, and people were having a grand old time. Up on the top of the slope right above us, Danny Kass, the general of Grenade, annouced the QP/transfer jump event, kicking off the games, and of course in great form, Louie cruised up to hype up the competitors and show why he has a grip of hardware from this past season.

Soon after the events up top were over, and the sun started to slowly fall to the west, and they called for all competitors to the top of the “Chinese Eyed Downhill,” a free for all race down a section of moguls. The first one down the moguls and on top of the Monster podium wins. This might have been the greatest event and definitely the funnest.

During all the mayhem, we were busy hosting our own event at our tent, but this one was a tad bit different then your normal snow event…The “Dookie Dunk Tank,” is where the person has to stick their head in a  toilet bowl (brand new) filled with water and bob for baby ruth bars. If the person pulls 4 bars out in 30 seconds they win a prize. We had a line all day for people wanting to win some sunglasses. Hendo and Smelly held down the tent, and made alot of peoples dreams come true with showering them with stickers, coozes, amd landers

As the night fell, and the crowd was getting ready to see who was going to be performing, we were chilling in the SPY+ RV waiting for The Game to show and come kick it with us. Thats right, The Game. He showed up an hour late, like all good artist do, rolled into the RV with a solid posse, ate some food, posed for some photos and grabbed a pair of our Platoon goggle and rocked that shit, he loved the goggle  so much, he ended up taking it home so he can wear it next time he is hitting the slopes. Then they bailed, jumped on stage and shredded the crowd at Bear with his smooth lyrical flow.
