A few weeks ago, a good friend sent over a linked email, accompanied by the text, “you’ve got to check this out!” Well, after having to field close to 8 million “Check This Amazing Product For Skiing!” and “FR ee VI aG ra 4 U!” emails throughout each day, week and month, one can’t be blamed for being a learned skeptic…

A bit wary of the results, I clicked on the link. Being an obsessive when it comes to music, any web title with the word “tunes” in it is pretty intriguing, and to great surprise and delight, the landed page turned out to be pretty damned cool. Ever wanted to know what JP Walker rode to in The Resistance (“G’d Up”, by Snoop Dogg and the Eastsidaz)? What misty track opened up Burning Bridges (“Making Time”, by The Creation)? How about what song closed out the immortal New Kids on the Twock (“Unite as One and Just Ride”, by Snowdread Posse)? And how many times have you pulled your hair out trying to figure out what that #$%@ing track was from that sick new Euro film your buddy showed you? Your resource: www.ridertunes.com.

Founded three or so years ago by Jesse Lakes, Rider Tunes exists off the generous support of many in the snowboard industry, providing all information and guides 100% free of charge. Every big-budget film, team movie, Canadian effort and Euro techno-fest is available for your browsing pleasure, including buy links to purchase your favorites, from both Amazon and iTunes.

Have fun on the site, and learn yourself on some new tracks. I’ll be off riding to Travis Parker’s part in After Bang (“Key Stroke”, by Her Space Holiday)…

In Rider Tunes’ own words: “Rider Tunes exists to help fill the gap between the good music found in snowboarding films and the need from snowboarders to discover new tunes. The web site lists out an always growing number of snowboard soundtracks from the early nineties to today with each segment’s music listed out. There has always been a powerful connection between the music we hear in our favorite snowboard porn and the stoke we get while riding. Rider Tunes is committed to exactly that – to easily find the music that gets us stoked to get outside and ride.”
